Lights

Light installations in sport and entertainment centers play an important role. Investments into sport centers constructions are reimbursed only if the constructed centers are attended by visitors. Success of a sport center depends on the created comfortable atmosphere for visitors, who usually attend such places only in the evenings.

Sport centers and open-air entertainment constructions require good lights installations for amateur sport and training, for regional and international competitions, accompanied by filming for TV programs and broadcasting.

Lighting system must be designed in accordance with the very kind of sport, speed of sportsmen movements, size of balls and pucks, visitors location.

When designing light intensity it is important to meet with standards of the Russian Sport Federation, International Sport Agencies, International Committees publications (I. E. C.), normative documents.

We install lights in public and private sport and entertainment centers of the well-known producers of lights defined by low prices which help to decrease expenditures and secure fast reimbursement of capital investment.

We apply specially created for sport purposes light equipment with precautionary nets and blow resistant glasses with different variants of switching on, fixation, easy in installation and maintenance produced by THORN, General Electric, OSRAM, Philips, Martini, Legrand, “Svetovie Tekhnologii”.

Swimming pool lights play an important role in in the process of interior design creation. As in architectural lighting, there are 2 approaches:

• Classical approach is based on the application of a soft pouring light. It underlines natural beauty of a swimming pool in the evening, shows everything what the darkness hides.
• Decorative approach underlines details and creates colour tints and spirits.

Water is coloured into rich yellow to rose and lilac. Swimming pool sides are specially lighted, so it seems that the sides are moving, light dynamics is combined with music.

Pool lights are the main type of swimming pool lights. Lights installation is carried out in open-air and closed swimming pools.

Lighting units and equipment for swimming pools are in constant contact with water. That is why a great attention is paid to safety requirements, for example, application of low-level lights (protection class not less than IP 68), high sealing of lighting units and wiring. Lighting cases must be protected from hits and pressure. System of fiber-optic and LED lights are widely used today.

Fiber optic enables to realize light dynamic effects. To create these effects light filters are applied. There are units with light filters connected to the whole control system through computer. In this case you can control any dynamic effects, accompany them by music and create new, original images with application of various colours and combinations.

An advance of fiber optic is that for creating lighting system for pool, ladders, surrounding area or interior and also for light accents creation around a swimming pool of different sizes doesn’t require a big amount of light units. This complex lighting installation creates outstanding dynamic effects: change of water colour, swimming pool perimeter and surrounding area lighting.

These effects can be also created by full colour LED units.

An advance of LED units is that they serve for a long time (up to 100 thousand hours of constant work), a wide range of colours, colour clearness, simplicity and low operation expenditures. Application of various LED units enables to create various swimming pool lighting effects, different light forms etc. With the help of LED units you can create the needed colour, smooth change of colour range. You can also record a colour change program on the control panel and change colour effects of one lighting unit and simultaneously of all units.

LED lighting system costs more than a halogen, but these expenditures are recompensed by long period of work and low electric energy demand (ten times lower than halogen lights).

There are various lighting technologies presented on the market.

Lamps with incandescent lamps are still widely used and can be easily installed at the bottom of a swimming pool.

Lamps can be made of plastic or stainless steel with capacity of 50, 100, 300 W (capacity is selected in accordance with future lighting intensity). A unit includes a lamp, a niche or a special installation tool, in case the lamp is overlaid and a waterproof wiring. In accordance with safety requirements, lights are working with low voltage of 12/24 W, that is why they need transformers securing low voltage power supply of underwater lights.

Technical servicing of lights is carried out two ways. In case high capacity lamps (300 W) with a niche are installed on a side wall of a swimming pool, a technical tunnel is constructed along the swimming pool walls. Access to all engineering devices, including is through this tunnel. Lamps are built into concrete, so that opening a lamp from the inner side of a swimming pool is impossible. Such solution is applied for large, technically complex constructions.

Another variant is to carry out servicing of lights (300 W) from the inner side of a swimming pool. In this case a lamp is taken out from a niche. Water proofing and prevention from water leaking to technical areas of a swimming pool (through a niche or cable) is secured by a muff (box tap).

Another variant is application of overlaid lamps, like built-in ones, they can be opened and demounted, water pouring off is not needed.

Swimming pool lighting and spotlights provide an opportunity to attend a swimming pool around the clock, increases night visitor safety and give high esthetic pleasure and unforgivable emotions from evening and night swimming.

Outline lighting fulfills two functions.

Firstly it serves as a part of the whole light system. Secondly it fulfills safety requirements and helps visitors to orientate in a swimming pool. You can clearly see a bright lighting line, unbroken or dotted line separates water from surface. Fiber optic is widely used for outline lighting today. It is important to point out that with the help of outline lighting you can realize the most interesting decorative solutions, for example, combination of several bright multi-coloured lines, star dotted line, line, changing colour etc.

            A traditional variant of outlining swimming pool sides is a use of floor lamps with standard halogen lamps. The design of lamps can vary from built-in flat lights with an effect of a light coming from underground, to cubes and balls with mat glare. More complex design solutions are also possible: eastern icon-lamps or high-tech compositions. Safety requirements for such lights are not so strict, as for underwater lights. Protection class IP 44 is enough (4 – protection from water splashes from different sides).

Local lighting is done to underline some specific zone. In swimming pools it can be a water descending or small architectural forms above water (typical for decorative pools). Anyway there are swimming pools with fountains and sculptures at the sides, especially when the construction is created in an antique style.

Fiber optic is also used for local lighting. You can emphasize steps or ladder skirting. Lighting units in this case are located aside from water, maintenance is carried out on a standard basis.

Skylight

In our climate zones closed swimming pools are constructed most of all and are attended all the year round. It is better to equip an open summer swimming pool with a shed in order to protect it from weather changes. In these cases it is important to install skylights.

Skylight in a building or in an annex doesn’t differ from lighting in ordinary buildings. Usually it is an even pouring light provided by lighting units and equipment. They require 1 or 2 classes of water safety (1 – condensate protection, 2 – water splashes protection, falling at the angle of 15 degrees).

Design choice of a light depends on the whole interior of a swimming pool. For example, for simple sport construction halogen lamps built into a hung ceiling or rail system lights are enough. The last variant is the most convenient as light direction can be easily changed.

If the swimming pool serves not only for sport purposes, but also for presentation purposes another solutions of skylight are applied. For luxurious swimming pools built like antique therms ceiling luminaries created in an antique style are most appropriate.
